World Heritage City of Bath

Bath is small enough to see on foot and the Mayor's guides offer free guided tours. The tour buses also offer a good introduction to Bath. The entire city has been designated a World Heritage City and almost all the buildings in the city centre are either original Georgian or Georgian style and are built in the local golden stone.

Bath was the playground of the rich in the 18th century and the houses of many famous residents still stand, including that of the writer Jane Austen. There's plenty to do, whatever the weather. Many visit Bath for the shops and restaurants alone. Bath lies in a valley and walking in the area offers many delightful views or you may take a boat trip on the River Avon.

We have many museums including the extensive Roman Baths and the Museum of Costume, the Jane Austen Centre, and the American Museum. The Abbey is impressive and there are many elegant squares and terraces including the Royal Crescent. Tea in the Pump Room accompanied by the Pump Room musicians should not be missed. The Theatre Royal's programme changes each week. We can now bathe in the hot spring water as the Romans did as our stunning Spa is now open. The roof top pool has views over Bath and many beauty treatments are available.
